Now that the 4th of July and warm summer weather are here, I find that many folks here in Washington, DC are thinking less about buying and selling real estate and more about relaxing by the pool, summer cookouts, and fun-filled vacations! What does this mean for you if you're trying to sell your Washington, DC home? It means that you'll need to be even more motivated to sell.
What are some of the things you can do to stay on track during the summer lull in Washington, DC home sales?
- Keep your goals in focus. Remember that you want to sell your Washington, DC home quickly while getting a reasonable price.
- Be ready to negotiate. You'll need to be flexible when it comes to working out the details of the sale.
- Keep your home neat and clean - inside and out. Keep the lawn mowed, shrubs and bushes trimmed and flower beds weeded. Clear clutter out of your yard.
- If you are trying to sell your Washington, DC home on your own and the summer lull has made you frustrated with your progress, hire a realtor. A realtor will be able to keep your home in front of potential buyers even during the summer buying and selling slowdown.
- Keep the lines of communication open between you and your realtor. Check in regularly to see how your sale is progressing. Remember that mid-summer is traditionally slower in the real estate market but that the slowdown is temporary.
Summer is traditionally a little slower with showings, but you can rest assured that the buyers that are out there are motivated, which makes every showing more important than ever!
